Two key ICC officials resign over T20 World Cup mismanagement



Dubai: Two key officials of the International Cricket Council have resigned over the T20 World Cup 2024 mismanagement.


According to media reports, Head of Events Chris Tetley and GM Marketing and Communications Claire Furlong have resigned from their posts, both officials stepping down ahead of the ICC Annual Meeting starting July 19 in Colombo.


According to the report, two ICC officials resigned over the demand for an investigation, but the world cricket body did not issue any statement regarding the resignations.


The report further stated that the World Cup held in the USA and West Indies was not pleasant and several board members complained, an ICC director Pankaj Khamji called for an inquiry into the over-budgeting of the T20 World Cup and increased expenditure. Wrote a letter to review the matters and conduct an audit while Pankaj Khamji has sent the letter to all board members along with this letter resignations have started coming.


According to the report, money flowed like water during the T20 World Cup, which increased expenses and decreased revenue, USA was the joint host of the event but was a spectator, no official of USA Cricket had responsibility, all While matters rested with the ICC officials, officials for the T20 USA were also chosen by the ICC while CEO Brett Jones was close to Chris Tetley.


The media report said that there will be a detailed discussion on this matter in the ICC annual meeting and there is a possibility of an investigation regarding the budget.
