According to Indian media, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed the inclusion of Rohit Sharma in the World Cup, but till now there has been no confirmation regarding making Virat Kohli a part of the squad, Virat Kohli against Afghanistan. The return confirmed his participation in the T20 World Cup but still the issue of Virat Kohli's inclusion is hanging. On the other hand, head of the selection panel Ajit Agarkar is not keen on selecting Virat Kohli for the T20 World Cup as the selectors and team management believe that the experienced player has failed to fulfill the team's needs in the shortest format. The board has also left the decision of Virat Kohli's inclusion to chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
