"Ramadan Package", a facility of discount on food items through utility stores by the federal government, was launched, but flour was missing from most of the stores at the start of the Ramadan package in Karachi, on which more than 50% subsidy was given compared to the market. Going forward, citizens who turned to utility stores for cheap flour faced disappointment. Apart from flour, the subsidized items include ghee, sugar, pulses, white gram, rice, besan dates, cans. Under the subsidy of the federal government, a 10 kg bag of flour is being sold at Rs 648, the price of which is Rs 1420 in the normal markets, while sugar is Rs 190 instead of Rs 150, ghee is Rs 25 less than the market, gram and pulses are Rs 25 with a discount of Rs 50 per kg, and dates are Rs 50 per kg. Rice is being sold at a discounted price of Rs 25, tea 800 grams at a reduced price of Rs 100, while Tetra Pack milk is being sold at a reduced price of Rs 30.
Benazir Income Support Fund registered people will be able to buy maximum 20 kg of flour, 5 kg of sugar, 5 kg of ghee, 3 kg of rice dal and 5 liters of cooking oil in a month.
