ISLAMABAD: The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Imran Khan went back after appearing during the hearing of the cipher case and took the stand that the fixed match is going on what will I do here.
The hearing of the cipher case against former chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi was held in Adiala Jail. In the case, the cross-examination of the statements of 11 more witnesses was completed, while the cross-examination of a total of 25 witnesses was completed in the cipher case.
After cross-examination of the witnesses, questionnaires were prepared to record the statements of 342 accused. Ex-Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood, Ex-Principal Secretary Azam Khan, Ex-Secretary Interior Yousuf Naseem Khokhar, Interior Secretary Aftab Akbar Durrani, Ex-Pakistani Ambassador Asad Majeed have been cross-examined. The statements of the witnesses were cross-examined by the State Defense Council.
During the hearing, Shah Mehmood Qureshi refused to cross-examine the statements of the witnesses through the State Defense Council and took the position that my lawyers are present here, and should be cross-examined by them.
Founder PTI's lawyer Sikander Zulqarnain said who are they? Why would they cross-examine? I am here. I didn't mistrust you.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said while talking to the judge, "Can I not ask questions?" On which the judge said that you and your lawyers were given a chance but you refused. I appointed a State Defense Council at the expense of the Government and I have waived your right of cross-examination.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that fear Allah and do not be so unjust.
The judge remarked that I had heard what Usman Riaz Gul had said to me and I respected you all so much but you did not respect the court.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi inquired why injustice is happening to us. I have to participate in the cross-examination. The way the trial is being conducted, we are being deprived of our fundamental right to defence.
The court gave a warning to Shah Mehmood Qureshi and said that if you do this, I will throw you out. Your lawyers have been allowed to sit and listen to the proceedings.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that you are slaughtering us and where can we ask for justice, our right is being killed.
The court remarked that you are accused and do not speak loudly.
Petitions filed by founder PTI's lawyer Sikandar Zulqarnain to re-examine the witnesses against the appointment of the State Council, on which the court rejected the petitions filed by the founder PTI's lawyer.
Speaking to the judge, Salman Safdar said that he was not far from the morning debate. I request that time be given to challenge the appointment of the State Council.
