Fog enveloped Dubai as well, instructions issued for drivers
Dubai Police received 2,841 emergency calls from 5am to 10am due to heavy fog and reduced visibility, while authorities responded to 51 reports of traffic accidents.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic of Dubai Police, said that motorcyclists should be especially careful due to reduced visibility due to fog on the roads.
He said that due to failure to maintain a safe distance between vehicles, accidents may occur, resulting in loss of life and property.
Police officials urged drivers to keep an eye on weather forecasts issued by the Meteorological Department to avoid dangerous traffic accidents due to fog.
Dubai Police has also instructed safety measures while driving in fog, including keeping the speed of vehicles low, using lights, avoiding overtaking, changing lanes only when absolutely necessary, not using high beams, paying attention to the road while driving. Includes instructions to stay focused and not block traffic in case of minor accidents.
