Due to smog, the average age of Lahoreis is decreasing by 7 years per year, research

Lahore, the top most polluted city in the world, is currently engulfed in heavy smog, Lahore has consistently maintained the record of being the most polluted city this year.



In this regard, a study published by the University of Chicago has stated that the average age of the people of Lahore has started to decrease. As a result of the smog, the average annual life expectancy of its residents is reduced by six to seven years.


The report also claims that for children living in Lahore, going out in the current situation is equivalent to smoking 30 cigarettes a day. Air quality index in Lahore has been recorded as 445. Besides, among the most polluted cities, Karachi is on the second and Peshawar on the third place.

According to the Environment Department, an air quality index of 200 is considered normal. An index level between 200 and 300 causes eye irritation, while an AQI level of 400 to 500 is considered extremely dangerous.
