Why Bilawal Immediately Called Zardari After Controversial Interview
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari placed a call to his father, party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, just moments after his high-profile interview aired on Geo News, as revealed by journalist Hamid Mir. The interview, notable for its explosive content, particularly Zardari's candid remarks about his son, stirred speculation about potential family discord.During the interview, Zardari described Bilawal as "inexperienced" and "not fully trained" in politics, hinting at a possible rift between them. The former president advocated for a transition to a new generation of leaders, adding fuel to the speculation. Shortly after the interview, reports surfaced that Bilawal had departed for Dubai, intensifying rumors of a strained relationship between the father and son.
In a conversation with Geo News’ Shahzeb Khanzada, Mir acknowledged the existence of a sensitive situation within the party but assured that it would be resolved. He disclosed that immediately after the interview, Bilawal initiated a call to Zardari to provide his perspective and clarify the narrative.
"Post-interview, as Bilawal sat in his room, he called his father in my presence. Bilawal attempted to explain his stance, and Zardari, in a fatherly manner, reassured him that there was no need to justify himself. Zardari acknowledged the challenging nature of the questions and encouraged Bilawal to respond. Bilawal clarified that his comments were directed at the broader political landscape over the past 70 years, not a personal critique of his father," Mir added.
